  Why did you leave the org?

  1. Got tired of being micromanaged by elders. If you miss a meeting you get talked to, if you go to all the meetings but step outside the Hall for a breath of fresh air once in a while, you get talked to. If sit in the back room instead of the main hall you get talked to.

  2. Do more, more, more. If you miss meetings and stop missing meetings, they want you to preach. If you go out preaching they want you to preach more. If you preach more, they want you place some literature. If you place literature they want you to do return visits. If you do return visits they want you to conduct bible studies.... it goes on an on and on. It is never enough, you always have to do more because you do love Jehovah, right?

  3. I read the entire bible cover to cover on my own a couple of times. I think the spirit of Christ is missing in a lot of the things that are said and done by the borg.

  4. And the straw that broke the camels back the teaching about the Generation of 1914 will pass away passing away after it was taught like it was a biblical fact. I remember being about 12 and asking my brother (who was giving me my study cause my dad was the PO and was too busy with other matters) about that. It just did not make sense to me. I said what if some madman reads that and decides he's gonna kill all the old folks to speed up Armagedon, then what? And without missing a beat my brother said, then that means that Armagedon will be right behind him. And I actually beleived that crap!

  hello everyone, long time lurker, first post.

  can you share your experiences with hypnosis?

  beyond the yes it worked for me or no it did not work for me, what i am looking for especifically is whether or not it opened you up for demon attacks or demonic activity.

  One time I was at a friends house and we were terribly stoned. I do believe, in that state of mind, I was over come by the power of suggestion and went back to my birth in my minds eye.

  It was a pretty good evening. I'd recommend it to anyone.

  Told To Buy Emergency Kits ...Ever Heard of This?

  a couple months ago my jw mom told me that in all the book study groups for their congregation they were told to go out and by emergency kits because "things were getting so bad".

  i restrained myself from rolling my eyes.

  has anyone else heard of this happening?

  oh, that's nice, yhwh ... does it come in silver do you think? *touch* ...> back on topic: it's all about feeding the illusion of imminence.

  There is an option of a stainless steel barrel but that adds a bit to the overall cost. As far as imminence is concerned...it all depends on your perspective. You can't stop the Earth's orbit.

  Yeah, my mom was spouting off some nonsence last summer regarding how the "Society" was recommending that good little JDubs stock up on necessities. After I got past my initial reaction and swallowed the vomit and bile that had found it's way into my mouth, I realized that perhaps my mother and the heavenly appointed governing body was on to something. So.....I went out and bought one of these for just such a life or death survival type situation.

  Not to mention you never know when some "government knows what's best for you" senator is going to introduce an unconstitutional bill to the house restricting my liberty.

  It shouldnt have suprised me to see this guy standing there. I have heard of this type of "witnessing" going on but never actually engaged in it myself. If you can call standing on a corner and stairing at your shoe laces engaging?

  Thanks again everyone.

  My son was baby A. He was born vaginally at say 8:00 p.m. plus or minus (I cant remember the time for sure). My daughter was baby B. She was taken via cesarean section over an hour later. My wife stopped having contractions after my son was born. The Dr. wanted to wait for a while to see if they started back up before going into surgery. After my daughter was born she had difficulty breathing and didn't want to eat very well. As a result she spent almos two weeks in intensive care.

  I also have a 7 year old son. I suppose that I should do a thread for him as well, just to be fair, huh?

  So today was a bit of a lazy Monday. First I slept in an extra hour. Then I took my 7 year old son to school, a task usually performed by my wife. I took an early lunch to head out to the local post office to mail out birthday invitations for my twins' birthday party. I was on my way back to the office and that's when I saw him.

  There he was. An obvious JW standing on the steet corner holding out a Watchtower and Awake for the whole world to see. He was just looking down there at the ground and holding out the mags. I almost turned my car around to have a chat with him. I thought that perhaps I could ask him a few questions. I decided to keep on trucking. After all I was on my lunch and by the time I got back to the office I'd only have about 5 to 10 minutes to eat my lunch.

  But I had to ask myself. Is this considered "witnessing"? Standing on the street corner? How do you count that time? Is every minute standing on the coner considered time in the ministry, or just the time actually conversing with others?
